On June 25, 2020, I hiked to the top of the Half Dome in Yosemite National Park.
There is a quote I am falling in love with, regarding this fantastic trail:
There are times when you sit down, and you're like, 'Man, I don't know if I can do it right now.' Take a second - go to the woods, hang out, go to Yosemite and check it out. Be in nature for a little while; clock out - which is super healthy, especially for creative types. Honestly, for everyone. Everyone needs that, at times.
- Ross Lynch
There were many moments during the hike, which lead me to see into myself. To reflect and observe my behavior, my fear, and my shortcomings. And also, there were times when I see the capabilities I have with-in me.
Every human being climbs their mountain; we have our inner half-dome exists, intimidating and exciting. But once we are on top of it, nothing else matters; our pain, struggle, and sweat become meaningless. The sweat washed away from the most refreshing and calmest breeze; the eyes are filled with the views which cannot be seen from the Yosemite Valley floor.
It is exhilarating.
When I came down, from the top things were different, I feel the change was a significant difference inside me. Then for whatever reason, the movie Castaway came up on my recommendation feed. And oh, boy! What a one-two punch once again, I felt it. It was like previewing my Half-Dome hike in a very different format.
We live, and we die by time. And we must not commit the sin of losing our track on time - Cast Away
For some, it may be just another hike; for me, it was a life-changing experience. I am not going to back-off from fears, from the risks anymore. And I will be disciplined about my approach in every direction of my life.
Oh, by the way, I just had five dates (fruit) and some nuts on the hike and had almost 2 liters of water on this 19 miles hike.
What am I reading?
Forever Employable by Jeff Gothelf. A fascinating book, especially if you are in the process of a significant change. And need a bit of process, then this is the book which will help you to put the process into place.
What I just watched?
When designing or working on an idea, we usually stumble upon some doubts, which are a) does this idea going to fly? b) who are my target users? c) why am I doing it? And d) is it going to be my next profession? If these are the doubts you may have, then step into the mind of Alberto Savoia and learn how to apply the XYZ Hypothesis to solidify and pass the cloud of doubts immediately.
